CityTour blogging
Last year I started a company called CityReads. Its been an interesting adventure and like many things that go from idea to company, it s ended up somewhat far away from my original idea. The original idea was to create a site that could publish audio lectures or guides by artists and authors and anyone who really knew something about an area. It was harder to create these than I had thought and there is no way to publish as large a library as I would want. I didn't even want to be in the position of creating them I wanted to create an open community where people could contribute them, people could rate them and download them. The main goal was to share a sense of place. Blogging and services like flikr, and technorati tags open up the possibilities of how to create a citytour movement. Of course as with all ideas someone is already doing it so I've just seen something that has elements of what I'm imagining 10 Places of My City - Chinese Social Movement takes images that are tagged and pulls them together. I still want to add more structure than the examples I've seen have and add audio somehow but I think this is a great start.
