Mourning My New Orleans in Slate. My friend Joseph's family has its roots there as cotton traders in the mid 1800's. I remember standing in Natchez on a levee talking about it. I can't imagine what the people huddles in the Superdome think about the fact that they are about to be transferred to the Astrodome.
