As I develop 2.0ish apps for my employer and look around at partners it becomes so obvious that it is all about seizing the network is about building the platform. From Squidoo to Ning to Platial, Eurekster and a whole host of other sites and apps working with them means giving up intelligence about your users. Trouble is in many cases it is impractical to actually build these things out or to do it fast enough. Someone pointed out to me that versus the ASP model in which you rent a service that is yours, in the new scenario you are sharing a platform with others and it is the platform that gets the info while we just hand over our users info and in some case our users to be part of the game.
