During lunch I organized a group trip over to see one of the four Olafur Eliasson waterfalls . They were turned on this morning, they aren't the new gates. It seems like a Manhattan centric project as it was really uninspiring from Brooklyn Bridge Park. Really like a hose on top of a large scaffold. R sums up much of the group sentiment. The cost of the project really put us off too, it could have made so much other art. A lot of money to get people to go to the South Street Seaport. Below is a photo of the one flowing a little further uptown on the East Side. Maybe they will look better at night when they are lit. At least Almondine had their great smoked salmon sandwich.
